Inspiring Students to Love
Relationships first…

1 Corinthians 13:13 –

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

  • To learn well, we need to have a space to be loved and learn how to love.
  • The character traits of compassion and integrity will guide our actions – compassion directed outwardly, and integrity directed inwardly
  • A community of belonging for each person in our community – where we are valued enough to be expected to contribute, and we will miss you if you are not here.
  • Restorative Practices guide our steps when harm has been done, or relationships break down.  We seek to make things right, to restore what has been broken.
  • The throughlines in our learning will include
    • Worshipping God
    • Reflecting God’s image, and
    • Building Community
  • You will notice this outwardly in how we learn through:
    • Crew (we all contribute – there are no passengers on our ship – only crew!)
    • Cross-grade connections – we thrive when older and younger students work together regularly
    • Cross Campus – our partners at our sister school help us to love and learn
    • Community partners – we love our community and work hard to make it a better place by connecting with others who want this too.

Inspiring Students to Learn
It’s all about learning…

Proverbs 4:7b –

“Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”

  • Because we love, we desire to learn more about God’s world, ourselves, and each other.
  • The character traits of curiosity and perseverance will guide our actions – curiosity to wonder, and perseverance to sustain our inquiry.
  • A growth mindset reminds us that we can do challenging things.  We might not know or understand some things yet, but we push forward to equip ourselves and each other.
  • Our learning has purpose because it equips us for Kingdom work.
  • The throughlines in our learning will include
    • Discovering Order
    • Discerning Modern Idols
    • Enjoying Creation and
    • Creating Beauty
  • You will notice this outwardly in how we learn through:
    • Standards-based learning targets that challenge us to meet and exceed educational outcomes
    • Digging deeper into our work and asking questions beyond the limits of our schoolwork
    • An understanding that every square centimetre of the universe belongs to God and we want to know and discover Him!

Inspiring Students to Lead
Always Growing…

Mark 10:43 –

“whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.”

  • Because we love and are learning about God’s world, we are compelled to lead!
  • The character traits of Collaboration and Joy will guide our actions – collaboration helps us work together, and joy results from making a difference.
  • Formative Learning Experiences (FLEx) deepen our learning by doing real work that meets a real need for real people.  Service learning ensures that our learning is not just for ourselves but makes the world a better place.
  • The throughlines in our learning will include
    • Caring for the Earth
    • Seeking Justice
    • Working as Servants and
    • Communicating with Love
  • You will notice this outwardly in how we learn through:
    • High quality, beautiful work – we bring our best because our work matters.
    • Justice seeking – we recognize injustice in the world and work to make it right.
    • Work that serves others – where possible, we will lead through actions that help others, sometimes in our school, our community, or across the world.
    • Discipleship – we will grow in our faith by putting it into action and through activities that form us and the world.
